“Freda” was born in Minneapolis, MN, later lived in Savannah, GA and in 2003 relocated to Marietta – where she resides with her husband, Nate,  daughter, Aryah (10/11) and their two cats Mischief and Kaleo.  Freda has one sister, Chaleta, who also lives in the Atlanta area and a brother, Darius,  who is in Chicago.  Freda has earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Science.  She has been involved with several volunteer organizations, such as - Light of Hope Ministry, Cobb [County] Emergency Response Team, and Savings Generations Youth Organization.   Freda’s hobbies include reading, shopping, playing cards, watching movies, and going to museums and aquariums.

Alissa Tarakit

Alissa was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She moved to Atlanta after graduating from Rutgers University in 2008. Alissa just completed her first year of veterinary school at The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.  She lives in Athens with her boyfriend Chris and their four dogs: Stitch, a lab-doberman mix,Virginia, a shepherd-boxer mix, Captain Jack, a shepherd-lab mix, and Madison, a pit bull mix.  Alissa’s hobbies include scuba diving and traveling.

Why she does this:  “An animal’s love is unconditional and they are always forgiving. Working with them and doing your best to ensure that you provide them with the same love and respect in return is extremely fulfilling and rewarding.  I am so grateful to have the opportunity to do something I love everyday.”

 

Kristy McEnhill

Kristy was born in Beaufort, South Carolina.  During her lifetime, thus far, she has lived in Minnesota and Michigan, but has spent most of her life in Newnan, GA.   She has one sister, Ashley, who is a graduate of Atlanta Art Institute and is now an interior designer.  Kristy has two dogs - Powder, a pit bull terrier and Teddy - an Australian shepherd mix that she rescued after being abandoned on the front step of her previous job at two days old.  She saved his life by taking him home and bottle feeding him around the clock - he is now over two years old.

Kristy earned a veterinary assistant certification at Animal Behavior College and is currently enrolled at Penn Foster to complete her Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology.  After earning her degree she plans to become a certified veterinary technician.  In her spare time Kristy enjoys going on walks in the park with Teddy, playing cards, watching movies, traveling, and "I like anything adventurous that is going to get my adrenalin up".

Why she does this:  "I have loved animals all my life and helping them is my passion. I am always happy and ready to come to work, knowing that I get to see and help animals. The Village Vets is a great place for all this to happen".

Katie Escher

Katie was born in Falmouth, Mass and moved to the Atlanta area with her family in 1992. Katie now resides in the Dunwoody area with her cat, Chad and Chihuahua mix, Layla. Katie's mother lives in Buckhead and father in Florida while her sister, Megan, resides in Alexandria, VA with her husband, Ian, and their young son Cooper. Katie has always had a special connection with animals and a passion for working with them, opening her own petsitting business for neighbors and friends at age 13. Katie enjoys spending her time with friends and family, reading, drawing, and traveling.  

Why she does this:  "Animals have unconditional love for us and make my life complete. I am so lucky to be able to work with them everyday and return the love they offer us."
